About

This blog started in 2007 as a repository of news and information on research by members of the Music Computation and Cognition (MuCoaCo) Laboratory at the University of Southern California, founded by Elaine Chew.

As of Fall 2011, Elaine Chew joined Queen Mary, University of London, where she holds the Digital Media Chair at the Centre for Digital Music. This blog now serves a similar purpose for MuCoaCo alumni and Professor Chew's current students.

The research projects represented are centred on the themes of systematic analysis and computational modeling of music structure and performance, so as to scientifically explain human abilities in music making - such as music performance, improvisation, and composition - and music perception and cognition.

In time, the static content, including project websites, lists of people, publciations, and awards still at the MuCoaCo Website will be moved to this blog.
